“Inspired by the Japanese izakaya concept,Yakuza is a true food-lover’s bar, and their burger is Portland Monthly’s 2009 favorite. But it’s the hidden treasures like Hamachi and Pork Cheek that make you wonder how a nation’s pub food could be this mouthwatering. And if their drink list doesn’t blow your mind, make sure you still have a pulse…”

My Houzz: Mixed-Use Oregon Home Serves and Charms
Dayna McErlean’s seven-year remodeling project transformed a debilitated Portland, Oregon, building into a vibrant multiuse project. Drawing on her childhood and inspired by her hands-on, creative family, McErlean created four dynamic spaces — the Yakuza Lounge (a food lover’s Japanese pub), an upstairs living space, a gorgeous garden and deck area, and a cabin for rent. Working with a carefully chosen team of building consultants, McErlean also incorporated a green roof and a water reclamation system. Now, nearly a decade later, her converted home in the city’s Alberta Arts District, is at the heart of a thriving creative community.
YAKUZA PATIO + PFA THURSDAY AUGUST 23
Please join Yakuza executive chef David Gaspar de Alba along with general manager and sake girl extraordinaire Kyle Lovell for an intimate outdoor dinner in partnership with Portland Food Adventures.
Enjoy 6 courses of modern Japanese fare paired with hand-crafted house cocktails, beautiful sakes and wines, served al fresco in Yakuza’s lush Japanese garden setting for just $125 per person.
As an added bonus, you’ll hear directly from David and Kyle about their approach to sourcing, planning and preparing Yakuza’s eclectic izakaya food and beverage menu.
David and Kyle, along with owner Dayna McErlean, have also reached out to their favorite Portland businesses – including Uno Mas (coming soon from our friend and neighbors at Autentica), Central Bar/Lounge, Torta-landia, Sweedeedee, DOC and The Kuza Garden Cabin – and each are generously providing gift certificates for all Portland Food Adventure guests. Enjoy a fantastic meal, great conversation, in a beautiful setting, and take home a packet of $60 in gift certificates to redeem at your convenience.
Seating for this event is limited. Please click here to reserve your spot for 6:30pm on Thursday April 23. We look forward to seeing you then!
